CCH Greens and Grounds Committee Update July 14th, 2025
The Country Club of Hudson Greens & Grounds Committee Update July 14th, 2025 Dear Members, At long last it seems like the weather has turned out to be more seasonable. We had twice as much rain in June than the average amount. As a result, the rough is thicker than normal, this should thin out provided we have warmer and dryer weather. In addition, because of the cooler and well above average rainfall there is more Poa in our greens which should also dissipate with more seas

CCH Greens and Grounds Committee Update August 21st, 2025
The Country Club of Hudson Greens & Grounds Committee Update August 21, 2025 Dear Members, We are finally seeing dryer and more moderate temperatures. This follows what has been a very challenging agronomical season starting with a prolonged winter then a couple of months of cooler and well above-average rainfall quickly transitioning to near triple digit temperatures. This all had a significant impact upon completion of the landscaping and rebuilding of the practice area sur

Greens and Grounds Committee Update May 19th, 2026
The Country Club of Hudson Greens & Grounds Committee Update May 19th, 2026 We are off to a very wet start to the season with 8” of rain in April well above average rainfall and May continues with this trend. The ground crew is doing their best to keep up with mowing while avoiding tearing up the course with ruts. The long-term forecast calls for some relief with warner temperatures. The driving range has been opened for the season and will remain open “weather permitting”.

Course Preservation
The Country Club of Hudson Greens & Grounds Committee Update Course Preservation Dear Members, Legendary golfer Bobby Jones once said, “Take care of the golf course and the course will take care of you”. Here are some suggestions to help take care of our golf course. To help preserve the turf. After teeing off remain on the cart path until you reach your tee shot, then proceed at 90° to your ball. Remain on the fairway until you hit your approach shot while staying out th

Greens and Grounds Update - June 18th, 2025
The Country Club of Hudson Greens & Grounds Committee Update June 18, 2025 It has been a tough spring in terms of weather with below average temperatures and above average rainfall. This in turn has had an impact on the pace of projected work on the golf course. Despite these challenges the maintenance crew has been able to keep the course at or above prior year’s standards. We have heard from you loud and clear that the rough is particularly punitive with thick and deep

Greens and Grounds Update - May 30th, 2025
The 2025 golf season is officially underway and with it here are a few reminders – Play from Fine Fescue and High Grass Areas (local rule). Fine Fescue Areas - there are two (2) areas designated as Fine Fescue and marked as “Native Area” – right side after tee between holes 4 and 5 fairways and in between holes 6 and 8 on right side. These areas are part of a muti-year effort to grow fine fescue. If your ball lands in these areas it should be played as Ground Under Repair.

Greens and Grounds Committee - Electric Carts Update
May 28th, 2025 We hope you have been enjoying use of our new electric powered golf carts. As was referenced in the original April 30th Update, there has been a learning curve with introduction of the electric carts and geofencing. Here are some updates. We will be removing most of the directional signage on the course. That does NOT mean you will now be able to drive beyond or into the restricted areas. Poles (4x4 stakes – striped, black & white) will be installed near th

Greens and Grounds Committee Update May 24th, 2025
May 24th, 2025 It has been a cold and soggy start to the golf season to say the least with below average temperatures and above average rain nearly every day in May. Ideal for growth of grass. This has put additional challenges on the maintenance staff to keep up with routine maintenance, especially mowing the rough. It takes two full days to mow all the rough and blow away the clippings. Our routine is typically to immediately re-start mowing the rough after completion,
