Update October 24, 2025

Here are some accomplishments since our last Update. Completed the second part of the cart path repairs to the most damaged areas. The entire golf course (greens, fairways, approaches and tees) has been aerated. We completed the landscaping surrounding our new cart barn including the drainage associated with the bioswales and creating & seeding the lower green.

Our focus is now on the following areas –

Rough Renovation - two 15’ passes surrounding fairways (refer to our most recent Update for more details).

Naturalized Areas (Fine Fescue)- gathering and removal of undergrowth thatch

Removal of bunker on hole number one on right side closest to the green; sand will be utilized in large bioswale beyond new cart barn

Hole 7 Tee – leveling and reshaping with support of Precision Golf. The hole will remain open for play throughout this work, but tee markers may be moved to an alternate tee temporarily.

As our golf season comes to a close, you may wonder what our core maintenance crew will be up to over the winter months. Here’s a snapshot of the projects they will be working on –

  • Green Hibernation – covering all greens with a layer of sand for protection. Once this is completed do NOT walk on any of the greens. Temporary flags will be placed in front of all greens.

  • Tree Removal - selective removal of trees (NOT wholesale removal or clearing) to deal with dead/dying trees, turf health (morning shade) or key species encroachment.

  • Drainage – surrounding cart path that was repaired on hole # 16.

  • Path – pour cement path from cart staging area to pro shop in front of scoreboard.

  • Maintenance – routine annual steam cleaning of all equipment and grease, replace bearings & sharpen reals.

One topic that was reviewed at our most recent Greens & Grounds Committee meeting is the upcoming Black Friday Chili Scramble. This has become an increasingly popular event. Our goal is to host this event, but there has been some confusion regarding our ability to host the event without potentially damaging our golf course. Here is our posture regarding the event. You will see on the flyer this is “weather dependent”. What that means is we will be monitoring the weather forecast beginning two weeks prior to the event and for the week following the event. There may be a frost delay. In addition, if the top layer (1/2”) of the greens is frozen there is a high potential of damage to the greens.  In other words, the ground may be frozen even if the ambient temperature is above freezing. Also, immediately following the event, greens will be top-dressed with a layer of sand to protect them over the winter. Last year we had a major snow fall the day after the event and the ground remained snow covered until spring preventing the sand cover from being installed. The result was our greens did not recover from the winter as quickly as expected. The bottom line is we are going to host the event unless risk of impact on our golf course conditions next spring precludes this. We will communicate status updates as the date for the event draws closer. This has the approval and support of both the Golf and Greens & Grounds committees. Thanks for your understanding.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions please reach out to Craig, Nick or me.
