(Our range needs some time to heal. Remember when it looked like this?)
As the summer begins to wind down and we roll into fall, we begin to start thinking about preparing the golf course for winter and the upcoming spring. September 1st is the absolute best time of the year to plant grass seed and grow grass.
This year has been exceptionally busy on the golf course and driving range tee. Our upcoming aerification schedule is almost identical to the past several years. This schedule allows for the most optimal agronomic benefit to the turf and for the most efficient recovery and return to play. Our new driving range Tee has seen a tremendous amount of practice balls hit and as a result there are many large bare spots, that will not recover without being re-seeded.
The aerification plan is identical to previous years and is as follows
Tuesday September 6 is the core aerification of greens.
Wednesday and Thursday September 7 and 8th we will core aerify and overseed the driving range tee.
The range will be closed while we aerify and overseed. For the remainder of the season, balls will be hit off mats only.
Fairways will be core aerified the week of September 12th.
On Monday September 19 we will finish up aerification with tees.
How we put the golf course to bed in the fall directly affects how it wakes up in the spring. As always please check with the pro shop for updates. Thank you for your understanding as we give the golf course a little TLC.
