Update June 18, 2025
It has been a tough spring in terms of weather with below average temperatures and above average rainfall. This in turn has had an impact on the pace of projected work on the golf course. Despite these challenges the maintenance crew has been able to keep the course at or above prior year’s standards. We have heard from you loud and clear that the rough is particularly punitive with thick and deep lies. We are doing our best to keep up with mowing but as you can see with some ruts there is a delicate balance between mowing too soon after a downpour. We were able to make our first pass at mowing the step/first cut rough around all the fairways. We have cut the path from the tees to fairway and will continue to do so provided we can keep up with mowing the rough. Also, you will see more patches of Poa on the greens than in prior years. This is due to the exceptionally damp weather and will dissipate with dryer and warmer weather.
I hope you have all noticed the landscaping being installed associated with the Cart Barn project. It should be noted that all this work is being completed by our in-house maintenance team. Thank them next time you see them. They are doing a tremendous job on top of all their normal duties. The final parts to this are the retention pond beyond the Barn and installation of the replacement green in the practice area.
In addition to all this the team has ground out all the stumps and repaired the surrounding area. Your ball should be played as Ground Under Repair if it comes to rest within the area staked off with white stakes. Finally, all the mulch and flowers have been laid and planted.
Our next project is to repair sections of the cart path in the worst condition on holes 1,2,3,6,12,13,16,17 & 18. This will take place on two to three Mondays and do not have scheduled events beginning June 23rd (weather permitting).
As a reminder, we have two more Turf Talk sessions scheduled in June as follows –
Day | Date | Time | Location |
Friday | June 20th | 12:30 to 1:30 PM | By Fire Pit |
Wednesday | June 25th | 8:00 to 9:00 AM | Before Women’s 9 & 18 Hole Leagues On Back Terrace |
Stop by and say hello and let us know if you have any questions or comments. We want your feedback. Now let’s hope for a warmer and dryer summer.
